Chateau des Chausse
AOC Cotes de Provence
September 2001

I recently visted Chateau des Chausse the harvest was nearly over. Only the Rolle was left on the vine. The Cabernet Sauvignon and all the reds were in.

The best wines were the 1998 red followed by the 1995 in close harmony with the 1997. Great rose of the 2000 vintage and a wonderful white which is not AOC. The Aoc white is good but simple. That is unfair because many Provence whites are still pretty foul and the Chateau des Chausse
is not, but the non AOC is brilliant.
My notes:
Chateau de Chausse- white 100% Rolle, the nose was more Semilion on the nose than Rolle, good balance and length, nice - 16>

Domaine de Chausse - Semiolion 33% -Viognier 33% Chardonnay 33%.
Elegant nose and palate, good clean fruit, nice length. 17 1/2 (in anybody
